I'm far from a legal or moral expert, but ......

Seems to me she was properly compensated by Allstate. What about the guy who legitimately bought the thing for $20K? What about the folks who did the restoration on a van they legitimately owned? Seems that many people may suffer harm here, while Allstate ends up able to call the shots. Granted, Allstate is the legal owner, but ........... .

One thing I feel pretty confident about -- the woman from whom the van was stolen many years ago has no claim whatsoever, and it would be totally a rip if she ends up with it while the guy who bought it restored loses it. At the very least, he should get his money back, but then the restorer is out his -- and he is almost certainly a victim, too.

As the seller of the restored van said, there are law suits on the horizon. Too bad.
