And what about all the intermediate "victims"? Certainly, the restorer is a victim, in your scenario. The woman really has no claim -- she was compensated when the van was stolen, at the proper market value. Is what you propose the norm in stolen vehicle recovery situations? Or does the insurance company just auction the recovered vehicle? In that case, the original victim could bid. Intermediates are still harmed, though. David Mc
