Stephen,

I agree. Ms. Squires claim was paid long ago. She even said that, though she would like to have it back, it's no big deal to her.

Allstate (probably) legally still owns it, since they took title when they paid the claim.

The German guy has the moral high ground, since he paid for the advertised van, and should get what he paid for.

The guy who sold it was inadvertently fencing stolen property, but doesn't seem to really be liable.

It would be fun to find out where the sucker has been all these years.

Quite a tangle, eh?

Karl Wolz

With all due respect to Ms. Squires, from whom the van was stolen, her insurance company paid off the claim and she is the LAST person who has a legal claim on it, despite how strongly we may feel in her favor.  Regardless of how anyone feels about VWs and/or insurance companies, I can't believe this is actually under consideration.   Stephen
