While I'm waiting for the engine to do that no power thing again (see
below) so I can try the WD-40 in the dizzie to see if that helps, the van
did something interesting while I was at the bank's drive up window.
Thar I was, minding my own business while the nice lady was processing my
deposit when I noticed that the engine was idling high (1.9L, AT,
transmission in Park, engine warm). So I tapped the gas pedal to see if
anything needed unsticking, and the rpms dropped to about 1000, then
climbed to about 1800, then dropped to 1000, climbed back to 1800, and did
this over and over. The period was about 2 seconds. The O2 meter thing
showed full rich when the engine was speeding up, full lean when it
dropped back to lower rpm. Tapping the gas pedal did not correct this, the
first or second time, but on the third try, the engine dropped back into
normal idle with the O2 gauge swinging lazily from end to end. When
driving, the O2 gauge showed normal, rapid, swings.
