Considering what happened with my bus recently I am very interested in this topic. I too heeded my blinking lights - the moment I noticed them - and that is the key as we all know. I am at most times very vigilant of what the guages are telling me but as has been pointed out by many others it isn't realistic that one might constantly watch their gauges.

In my case the lights couldn't have been blinking long - but they were blinking too long before I noticed and I had a melt down (due to massive immediate purging of coolant).

An audible alrm would be a wonderous invention. Although it has been pointed out that it wouldn't require an EE to do this - it is beyond my current knowledge. So I would gladly pay for such a device.
