Mark, with all due respect, I think your opinion would be different if you got screwed out of 20 grand. If I went to a car dealer and bought an expensive used vehicle and then was told said vehicle is stolen and I can't have get money back... things would get ugly quick.

The charity benefiting from the auction should pay back the German guy first, and then use any surplus to their benefit.

I guess the buyer should have used a service such as this one. I wonder if buyers of GoWesty price level Vanagons do so.

It is an imperfect world. Sometimes somebody has to lose out. Governments are imperfect as well. Maybe we should all take up a collection for the poor disappointed buyer, wherever he is. I'm not serious.
