The measurement we actually want is the protrusion from the chassis of the powertrain or lowest hanging points. We are simply using the ground plane as reference. The chassis/powertrain protrusion data are the comparable numbers that the end user cannot change easily(other than swapping to something else). This is the baseline upon which wheel/tire/spring then have an effect, but we don't need that data from everyone, and the less we ask for, the more data we will get.
