Why go with an older 2.2L ? They are getting old even if yes, they are built like a tank. But you can find cheap 2.5L SOHC if you look around.

Any older engine will need basic work, by re-seal i mean new seal everywhere including head gasket, on top, every timing components (T-belt, idlers, tensioner...) need to be replace. Cam/crank seal, cam plug, piston pin access port behind flywheel.
