Subject: Carbon Footprint of a Vanagon
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

Just reading this story about how a medium sized dog has a greater carbon footprint than an SUV. So. I was wondering what the carbon footprint is for a Vanagon? Day-to-day, it's probably about the same as the SUV, but it's hard to calculate since the Vanagon was built so long ago and we have to include the manufacturing process in the footprint.

Of course, those who travel in their Vanagon with a medium-sized dog will have to double their footprint.

A dog and a Vanagon seem to go together. The story says the carbon footprint of a cat is equal to a VW Golf. Those seem to match as well. I wonder what animal matches a Prius.. Perhaps a Gerbil?
