I've never had to deal with this situation (thanks god) and at this point
wouldn't really since there are many Vanagons like mine and in similar
condition :)

However, I will say that it sounds like you have at least pre-planned enough
that you have a bit of a jump on them - witht he stated value and such.
Also, I think they will find out quickly (if they haven't already) that you
know exactly what you had and what it's value is.
