It does seem that technician error is likely.
any gauge installation or modification to the stock oil system has to be
done there is no chance of anything breaking due to vibration,
or something coming undone due to not being installed correctly ( and I have
found oil pressure switches screwed into VW van engines only finger tight,
at least once ) .
I'd be curious exactly where on the engine the oil pressure gauge sender was
installed, too.
