I'm amazed at how WD-40 can bring tired/sticky electrical mechanism back to life. I don't think it can hurt them either. Very often, it's just take it apart, inspect, clean, treat and service - and it's working again. And once in a while you can even resurrect a sticky thing without taking it apart. I don't even understand how things are supposed to work for decades with only their original lubrication or assembly. Judiciously applied lube of the right kind here and there - makes a huge difference. Electrical contact cleaner, I find myself using that a lot on vanagons too. Scott

Replace the solenoid behind the panel. Mine is doing the same thing, basically the solenoid wears so that it sticks and won't travel the full distance. I'm not sure if it's the spring or what, but I'm guessing that's the problem.

It seems my rear hatch will no longet lock.

Ita a 1987 Wolfsburg with power locks (you lock the front passenger door and the rest of the locks click as well). I've also noticed that sometimes I have to unlock/lock the front passenger door a couple of times to get the sliding door to click locked.

How does one remedy this?

-David
