I've always found the Spillmaster (no, that IS the real brand name)
unit that sits on the floor to do the drink holding for me. It holds
two drink vessels and the receivers are adjustable for the tiniest
tabasco bottle(for staying awake on long drives!) to holding a full
liter Nalgene bottles (for putting out the fire from the tabasco
sauce!).. There's space in the rest of the unit for pens and other
crap, the tire gauge and hardware etc. go in there. No mounting
needed, as it's like a foot square and sits on the floor perfectly
behind the manual gear shifter and in front of the homemade CD
changer housing and front console. I think I paid like $9 for it
several years ago, but recently found one at a yard sale for a buck.
I do like the resourcefulness of the shopping cart salvaging though!!
