Recently someone posted their cupholder idea. Here's mine. A piece of teak I had laying around worked into this, with a little 'tray' that holds my sat. radio and it's remote. Or other things, if the sat radio is not in use. Also visible on the dash top is a 'combing' to keep items up on the dash. I let some magnets into the underside of this little 'fiddle' (Nautical terms, combing and fiddle) so it comes off to wipe the dash clean, etc. The cup holder is simply screw on from the backside of the heater shroud. The tach is a cheapo one from Shucks (chain autoparts in the NW) A bit less complex than messing around with a swap to all those fussy little wires behind the clock, etc. It works very well, though the lighting is a bit modern for the vanagon (l.e.d.s?) The tach will help me avoid lugging my inline 4 vw motor.
