If the westy is very clean, with little to no rust, that is worth alot in my opinion because I would rather spend my money on mechanical components than on bodywork and cosmetic items.

Like others have said, at 170K mechanical things are getting tired and will need attention. I like the "downpayment" comment! that's funny...but true.
