Subject: DK vs AB (wbx) Transmission PICS
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

Hi all.

Finally got off my rear, dug out the two spare transmissions, and took some pics. I doubt it makes any difference in terms of transmission/mount bracket lengths, but the code on the WBX transmission is "AB 3008 4". August 30, 1984 build date. Seems it could be an ABB, ABD or ABE if I'm reading this chart correctly:

Sorry about the dim lighting on some. I may redo some of the pics.

As per Mark Drillock and Scott Daniel's comments regarding swapping in the WBX shift linkage to an air cooled Vanagon, pics show differences in transmission and mount bracket length. I also snapped shots showing where vent holes are, magnetic drain plug fuzz differences and just how dirty these things get!

For your perusing enjoyment!
