that is how the rear camber is adjusted - with no weight on the suspension of course. That little hole next to the bolt is for inserting a pointy tool, to move the bushing location around, as you suggest.

I measure camber on a flat floor using a level. I position the level perfectly vertical, then measure, and compare, distances to the rim edge, top and bottom.

you should also check how high it sits, front and rear. It could be the rear is sagged, and the real issue is that the springs have sagged some, not that you couldn't adjust camber to compensate.

fwiw, I pretty much fuss over suspension condition and adjustment on any vanagon I'm refurbishing. I mess with all the settings in the front if needed ( and as little as possible too ) , and with spring height front and rear, but I have yet to tweak on rear camber.

That adjustment also affects rear toe, so you should find out what the rear toe spec is, then carefully measure what your rear toe is currently, and seek to end up with both correct rear camber and toe. And do consider if rear spring sag has occurred.

It appears to my eye that the rear camber on my '84 Westy needs adjustment.

The Bentley procedure seems simple, perhaps too simple? Just pull off that plastic cap from the big nut, loosen the nut, pry the trailing arm by inserting a big screwdriver in the slot, tighten the nut and go.

Assume here that I am crafty enough to measure camber both before and after.

I couldn't find any reference to this in the archives... suggesting that it is either very easy or seldom done. Any gotchas I should know about? Thanks for any help.

Geo
