Hi Folks. Indeed, there are supposed to be tiny little springs. I even found the ones I lost. BUT, in attempting to get it back together (I now know why the nubbin that centers the sprayer contacts is supposed to be removable and why VW doesn't have an expoloded diagram), I fubared some other parts of the switch. Heading to the wrecker to hope I can get one before they close.
