one nice, fairly inexpensive solution is to retro fit single round large headlights and their holder parts, from a 1980 to 85 Vanagon. Then get Euro type headlamps that have replicable halogen bulbs. I'm very pleased with the set I got. headlight relays help too, though I haven't installed mine yet. I'm still drawing full headlamp power through the light switch, but it's working fine. check out Bus Depot . That's where I got mine I think.
