I'm a BZ shelf junkie and can attest to its usefulness ... and cool-factor.
It folds easily when the pop top is moved up/down. Very useful storage
area when camped. Nice towel rack/wine goblet holder too.

An aside feature ... when camped with the sun at the front of the van,
the shelf can be folded vertically when the top is up and the front
window "open", for shade. Nice air circulation yet shade from the sun
drenching the interior. I've hung a towel over it as well to create more
shade area while keeping the window completely unzipped for air circulation.
