I used Jon's write-up when I installed my SA grill last year. Very helpful.

I measured thrice, drilled once, and still broke off a drill bit in the sheet metal. Never could get that shard out - had to drill an entirely separate hole. Cut to fit, paint to match. Jeepers, Vanagon sheet metal is tough.
