5 1/4" speakers fit in the stock holes with no modification; if you want to cut the metal and fabricate a ring you can mount larger; the main problem is the window cranks which need to be gently bent or fitted with spacers to clear the larger speakers. Also watch out for the surface height of the speakers; I purchased Alpines whose sound I love but they press against the dash and have caused my door panels to warp in the moist and cold weather.

If you don't have power windows you can fit a 6 1/2" speaker in the lower part of the door, possibly with some metal cutting and maybe needing to fabricate a mount situation. I have power windows so that hole is occupied by the stock window motor. Best of luck.
