If the 1 mm thickness is critical, I'd use the fiberglass and regular epoxy route rather than the plumber's epoxy. Also, I would think colorizing the plumber's epoxy to protect from UV rays would be an issue. You can color the epoxy with regular resin colorant, graphite powder(if you want a near black,) or get some powdered tempra paint from the Hobby/craft store and add enough of it to get an opaque color. Using simple Saran wrap or Glad wrap is all the barrier. Once it's set up and fully cured, you could sand it down to your 1 mm thickness. The plumber's epoxy won't have the strength of the fiberglass part you'll need for the lamination, poly doesn't conform well to intricate curve. You could also use a mold release like PVA (poly vinyl alcohol) or regular mold wax(many coatings). The epoxy I prefer is the Gougeon Brothers West System epoxy and it's marketed in small ketchup package sized resin and hardner to mix, all the way up to 5 gallons of the stuff. I think you can still buy a selling unit that has like 6 of the pouches in it for a reasonable price.

Good luck
