Hi Scott,

I read this thread with interest earlier but did not have an opportunity to craft a proper answer until now. As someone pointed out (and you realized after), I knew exactly what I was looking for and did request for pmail replies. That's my Listmember (non-Mod) position. As a Moderator, it is my opinion that pmail request should be respected as private mail even if you are writing a reply. This helps avoid friction such as when another listmember 'snags' a deal intended for the person originating the request. In addition, this also helps avoid having other listmembers jumping in in frustration because a Moderator had not gotten to the issue right away.

I do not think anybody will stop another listmember from posting items for sale within reason. However, promoting your "other items or more of the same items" for sale by posting your offer to the entire list is just not acceptable. You can simply run a FS posting under subjectline. Otherwise, it is no different from hijacking a thread.

Please try to read each thread in it's entirety before posting a reply. I can get a little annoying for some to read a reply to a posting which has been answered several times. Email such as Gmail can make these chores easier because postings with the same subjectline are grouped together. That way, it is easy to see all the subsequent replies in one folder. Think about Dustin Hoffman's character in the movie Rainman. Nobody wants to hear someone say 'fart" over and over and over and over again. If he only he read all the replies first... Do ou know a word forpassing gas? Fart! Fart! Fart! Fart! Fart! It ain't purdy.

Cheers,

BenT
