I'm an old sailor - USN - '58-'64 - I know how to swear.
But - with age comes some wisdom (I hope) and with the passage of time,
some experience, and some education, there came a point in my life where
I could discern a "Gone With the Wind" moment, i.e., Gables famous
"Frankly, I don't gave a D***" remark -- for use as a punctuating
expletive. Beyond those rare moments, I came to recognize there was
little need to apply such in most cases, and if inappropriately done -
it was a bad reflection on my upbringing, my family, my education and my
intellect. So, I choose to try and maintain the high road in
conversation - both in person and on the net in any way. There is one
thing about writing or "Talking" on the internet - once written/spoken -
you cannot retract what was said. It won't happen. So, I try to keep my
conversations a civil as I know how. That does not mean however, that I
may not use language - even contemporary language - to occasionally
punctuate a remark or add a bit of color!
We are adults - so let no one blow smoke where the sun doesn't shine -
we ALL know what language here is appropriate and what is not!!!
