Jim's web site shows moon caps as standard on some vanagon models from
'91. He stated that he took the info from window equipment pricing
stickers. In my case, I have the original sales sheet amongst the
papers I got when I bought it, and my van is (as a camper), according to
Jim's web site, not supposed to have them. I can't see anywhere on the
sales sheet that the caps were an option -- maybe the plastic things
were on there, the information just isn't there. But the guy I bought
it from considered the chrome caps to be the originals, and they
definitely showed evidence of long use, whereas the plastic ones were in
like new condition.
I guess I really don't know, and I will drop the subject as not worth
all the time I've put into it. I like the metal caps and will keep them
(but I have the plastic ones available in case I ever sell the van and
someone likes them better).
