It's great when people take the time to check these out. I would do so, but not much comes up for sale in my neck of the woods (SW Colorado.) One did come up, once upon a time, at a reputable Subaru/Chevy dealership. A 1990 2wd GL automaticfor which they were asking 5500.00. I took a glance and felt it was overpriced, though it looked pretty clean, but I already had nine vans at the house.....but my wife insisted (good girl.) Long story short, it was the opposite from what Jeff reports. It was great interior/exterior, but we ran the engine and the oil buzzer was going off and coolant spilling from the rear, somewhere. I said no thanks, he insisted. I said I'll give you 1.00 dollar. He said that was an insult. I agreed and offered 100.00. He said no thanks, but as we drove off he ran us down and said we could deal. I got if for 350.00 (original asking price of 5500.00.) I repaired everything right there at their lot and drove away. This was four years ago. Four problem free years. Miguel

If anyone else was interested, don't waste your time. I didn't expect much, since the ad appeared to be from a seedy used car lot-and that it was. While it looks good in pictures (they always do!) this Vanagon has seen better days. Both rear wheel arches are damaged, the drivers side door drops down a quarter inch when you open it, the interior is FILTHY (more brown than gray), the carpeting around the passengers seat is eaten away from what looks like battery acid, and some of the body cladding is loose. The salesman went the office to get the keys, but by the time he returned (about a minute) I told him thanks, I'd seen enough, I didn't even care how it ran. At $3,500.00 we were so far apart from the (maybe)$500.00 I'd pay for this van, I didn't want to waste anymore of my time. Judging by the asking price, they must think they really have something here. > > > Jeff Stewart > > > ----- "Stephen Grisanti" <bike2vcu@YAHOO.COM> wrote: >> Not mine, and not much detail (year, trans, etc.) but might appeal to someone. >> >> http://richmond.craigslist.org/ctd/1544167643.html >> >> Stephen >> >> >> >> >
