An EV Vanagon is only good for a demonstration or limited use vehicle.

Vanagon/Westy is too heavy for practical EV propulsion...you'll need about 1000 pounds of lead acid batteries to displace each gallon.

i.e. 1000 pounds of batteries will get you about 18 miles. Better to use a small/light vehicle for EV conversion....

if you are interested in a DIY EV, go attend a local EV club meeting to get real world information. http://www.eaaev.org/eaachapters.html
