Working on a friend's 82 diesel camper, we removed the tank to install marine hose for the new radiator. Found that the PO had replaced the long-gone bushing with a section of flexible spiral hose, as used on hot tubs, etc. Split so that it would not have to be the same size as the shift linkage, it had slipped out of place for who knows how long. Since nobody will carry this replacement part, we cleaned and re-greased the hose, and hot-glued it into place. I doubt that will have to be dealt with again.
