If you work as a checkout clerk at Wal-Mart or most any other mart , you can't say @$$ or d@$%  either.  And you will notice most vendors do not use curse words . There's a good reason for this.   When you sell merchandise, you want all customers. Some are offended by language and will not return. It's a poor business model to use profane language.   Likewise, in a open forum that has an owner who set down rules, just like Wal-mart, language is to be decent for the common good of all. The list is open to people from all walks of life.   Since all people do not agree, a common aggreement must be made regarding speech. First Ammendment rights to free speech not being infringed here.      If you think you have freedom of speech everywhere, try speaking in a courtroom without permission, or saying bomb in a airport.   If you feel a need to speak some trash talk, a local dive bar or certain car forums populated by teen-and-twenty somethings is a good place to start.   Some members have religous beliefs that don't allow them to swear. Others just don't like it.   In life , there will always be rules. Those that object are usally the question authority types that despise rules will always be unhappy.   Profanity and vulgarity are not allowed here since the forum's beginning. Can we talk about this now?  G rated seems kinda hard since this list is for current/former/prospective vanagon owners and since you can't drive until 15-16 yrs of age, I believe that the rules should be of a PG-rated nature. Not a big issue since I can usually hold myself to the current rules.  Just would like to say a** or dam* and not have to go to Vanagon List Confession.  My .02.  Have a great day! :-) Michael in San Antonio 91GL AT 'Gringo' 73 Beetle

Not to start anything(really)  but I suggest that this list rating be upgraded from 'G' to 'PG'.  I guess replies should be to the moderators so as not to cause problems, but a vote would be cool. Michael in San Antonio 91GL AT 'Gringo' 73 Beetle
