You have to admire the thinking that went into this.  Though I'm no engineer or engine swapper or even a serious wrench it seems like it opens tremendous new possibilities (including arguing over the best shift linkage and axle hookups). Man, makes me want to buy a wrecked manual-trans Sube just to have it waiting in the wings.
