I've been wanting to do a nice paint job on my diesel vanagon's metal dash for years, but couldn't find anywhere near the right brown color. I had to take some DEET spray to get rid of some wasps under the dash while driving, and that discolored my glove box. And then there's the black heater cover/distributor that I've been wanting to match for years.

On a tip from my VW shop, I took the entire dash into a local paint shop just before lunch, I left it for them to scan to concoct a match with, and by 4:00 I picked up a big aerosol spray can of exactly the right color. It's great having everything look so identical and original. The paint company, which I thought was a chain, is local. But you might want to google "dupont spraybase automotive touch-up paint" as the can says.

Nice.

Jim
