Hmm. Interesting. The middle one in your first picture is the style I have in my 91 Syncro (non-GL) front doors, I believe. And I would swear it was the same in my 86 syncro (GL). The round post holds a spring, as I recall. I've never taken out the front door lock cylinders on my 91 Westy (GL Westy), which has power locks.
