Bob, the Vanagon has no type of fault code memory what so ever. No OBD II, no blink codes, nada. However you can usually troubleshoot your van with an ohm meter and the Bentley manual in about 30 minutes and find 99% of all problems that way easily. There is a section in the Bentley that gives you the tests to do at the ECU plug (under the rear seat) and you just go through these tests one at a time, check your results against what the book says and BINGO you found the problem. People think I am a miracle worker because I do this and fix their vans. However if they just took a few minutes and did the tests according to the book they could do the same thing (don't tell anyone:).

The digitool is nice because it allows you to do these tests in real time but you still have to do the tests from the book.

Hope this helps, Ken Wilford John 3:16 www.vanagain.com
