Ya I was skeptical myself. I had to find some of his finished work and also some of his in-between work. He owns his building and has his family working for him (he's Mexican) Not only did he sand my van down to bare metal he used a sand-able primer then wet sanded it. Then on top of that he used a good sealer. I was able to drop by and inspect the work. I used to paint cars and boy does that take forever to do. His brother and cousin are pros at the prep work. I guess I consider myself fortunate. I did tell him if he did a good job on mine I would refer other VW van owners, so maybe he gave me a real good deal to attract others. Here are a few pics of it before the sealer. One thing I'm glad for is that I only paid $900.00 , I have 2 small children and use this van for numerous adventures. Some involve logging roads and lots of brush, this = scratches. That is why I had him do base coat clear coat so he could buff out the scratches. And if it only lasts for 2 or 3 years then I will take it back and pay him another $900.00 it might even be less being that when I took it to him the first time there were some pretty good dents and dings. Looks good for now and I did not want a show quality paint job ($3,500 to $6,500), if that was the case I would not even let people get closer than 5 feet. That I would not enjoy. I'm sure I will win some shows the paint looks absolutely fabulous......... :-)

Not to burst a bubble, but time will tell if it is a $2.5K paint job.  I don't see how the guy could do it.  He got $900 for seven days work, and of course, he had to buy materials, pay for his shop and equipment .............. .  How does he make a living?  If he is actually pocketing $500 above shop costs (such as insurance, rent, equipment) and materials, and takes no days off the entire year, with work continuous, he is making $25K per annum.  That won't support most folks these days.
