TJ,

I just did an engine swap and the plastic part of the oil fill tube just pulled of. It was snug but it came off with a little muscle.

As for the T-stat housing. I lost you a little between the Syncro / non-syncro thing - so if this makes no sense just ignore me (I get that a lot) - So, if you are comapring a Syncro housing to a non-syncro housing I believe the sensors between the two are different (one is a plug type and the other has the spade type connection you speak of). i'm sure someone else here will have a better answer on that.
