Subject: Friday: Fuel containers, a little bit vanagon related
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

Vanagon related in that I, like others no doubt, use a diesel fuel container when traveling to remote rural destinations. I normally carry one five gallon Wedco (NATO style) can and spout. These cans are so good that they can lie on their side on the floor and not leak a drop, and put 125 miles or so of fuel in the tank without leaking a drop.

I went looking for another one recently, only to find that they have been BANNED in favor of a goofy child-proof design with a ratcheting screw-on spout rather than the familiar clamp spout. The new spout arrangement looks like it is fragile and no longer self-stacking in the way the NATO cans were.

Did every body else know about this ban and I'm just finding out?

Seems a shame to lose such a great design. The websites that sell the tanks say "don't complain to us, complain to your legislators." Anyone know who specifically to complain to?
