Hi Paul,

That's pretty neat. I have heard of a stranded hunter recharging the battery on his car by spinning the alternator with a weed whacker.... I wonder if a similar small engine could be mounted directly to the alternator belt on the vanagon?? There's probably enough space for a weed whacker motor in place of the AC compressor on a vanagon without AC.

You would have to remove the original alternator belt to use it though, I suppose it'd be easier to just spend the $$$ and connect the cables when it's needed.
