I haven't had the occasion to have a problem like this on my van - or even to try and remove an exhaust nut on a WBX - but in my aircraft mechanic days, when this kind of problem arose, a nut splitter was used. If that doesn't work - try soaking the nut and stud for 24 hours with Marvels Mystery Oil - the actual oil - not that top-overhaul-stuff. Then, apply the 200 tap principle using a socket that will fit over the stud, but rest the shoulder of the socket against the face of the nut. Then try and remove with a proper fitting socket. If it does not loosen up - repeat with 200 more taps. If that doesn't do the trick, grind the nut down carefully on one flat, then try to turn the nut. The grinding down should weaken the metal sufficiently for it to stretch just enough to break loose. If all that fails - grind the nut off with expectation to replace the stud.
