Tried to do this too but got sidetracked. I removed the upholstery off the bottom. Stopped short when it came to cutting the foam. You might recall when I asked the list about tye foam cutting tricks. I thought buying the foam from a Tristar seat would be easier to do and nit as expensive to ship. Then planned on reupholstering with the material from the Vanagon bench.

Toyed with the idea of doing twin captains seats in back instead with Westy single seat pedestals ala' Jadgwagen. Figured the added weight was not desireable. Nevermind that I carry a crap load of parts in the cargo bed all the time.;-)

Another idea is to install removable jumpseats like those I saw on some German Dokas. Seemed practical enough but look was not as appealing to me.

I would be very interested in what you do with the armrests. I took some measurements and thought there sapce was tight against the rear bulkhead. The GL bench has aore reclined angle which will necessitate some adjustment to the vertical Doka seatback.
