Tried to do this too but got sidetracked. I removed the upholstery off the bottom. Stopped short when it came to cutting the foam. You might recall when I asked the list about tye foam cutting tricks. I thought buying the foam from a Tristar seat would be easier to do and nit as expensive to ship. Then planned on reupholstering with the material from the Vanagon bench.

ive actually seen it done before.. a local guy by the name of Joe Roadcap had done this to his '84 doka years ago. then he sold it, and bought a t4 doka.. then he sold that too. and fell out of the VW scene.. wish i could locate who owns that blue doka now..it had a two toned the paintjob like the '84 van the capt. chairs came out of ...
