Make sure the center axle nut is properly tightened. Sometimes these are not properly torque and the looseness will cause the splines and sides of the flange hub to wear and make things worse. Enough movement will strip about the splines and leave you stranded. Enough side play will damage the bearings. If loose enough to clunk the flange hubs need to be replaced.
