Ron -- you would know this better than anyone. A few years ago I was cruising a wrecking yard looking for window cranks -- I had been buying the cheap aftermarket ones and they kept breaking. I told the guy behind the counter this and he pointer me to a line of early Jetta's and said that those cranks would work and that they were all plastic and much tougher. I picked up 4 for $10 bucks and doubt that I'll ever need the spares. They fir perfectly if use the use the slightly longer Vanagon screw and not the Jetta one. As for grill clearance when I put in my new speakers I was able to simply file the plastic on the end of the crank at an angle until it cleared the new grills.

Maybe you would know and share with the list what year Jetta cranks work -- and raise your sales on those :-)

Cheers, Doug
