I just had my 1.9 rebuilt at Suburban Engine (former coworker of Boston Bob) in January. The issue appears to be they may need to make a custom set of bearings if the standard ones will no longer fit. My core was fine so there were no issues rebuilding it. He does not like to do 1.9's anymore BTW but he might if you ask.

Most people on this list recommended upgrading to a 2.1 for the rebuild for the extra reliability and power but I was not interested paying more for another core and any extra parts needed for the conversion. I like the gas mileage of my 1.9 anyway.

It's getting close to time to rebuild the 1.9 in my 85 Westy. Many people tell me that there is a problem getting good parts for the rebuild and that many folks are not satisfied when they do have engine rebuilt. Not being have much knowledge in these maters I am asking for input from those that do. Thank you.
