I have found it very simple to just route the antenna cable through by itself. Doing it the fish tape way works sometimes, but often gets hung up.

Remove the dash pod cover (yes, you just reach over and grasp at the two holds and lift up/toward you), route the cable through the headlight hole while peering up through the antenna mount hole to watch it enter the dash. Get the cable in as far as you can. Once it's in there, go inside and pull it through (needle nose plier makes it easier).
