Starbucks does NOT have free wifi, never did.  Their wifi is provided by
AT&T and you have to have an account to use it.

Truck stops do NOT have free wifi, you have to buy cards for their service
to use it.

I don't know if McDonald's wifi is free, but why would you want to go
there?  No atmosphere.  Bad food.

Panera does have free wifi.  Also good coffee and not-bad food.

Libraries pretty much everywhere seem to have free wifi.  In small towns
they aren't open much, but Phoenix isn't a small town.  Some libraries even
let you bring in your coffee!

Caribou coffee has free wifi, but I don't know if they are in Phoenix.

Cosi coffee (and food) has free wifi but last I tried it, you had to give
them your credit card info to use it, so I've never tried.

Karl Wolz's house has wifi - be nice to him, and maybe he'll invite you
over.

But since he snapped at you (that wasn't nice, Karl!), he's right.  To find
free wifi anyplace, just google "free wifi placename" and you'll find a list
of places.  Several lists, actually - it's worth looking at all of them
since the info is contributed by whoever feels like contributing, and may
not be complete.

Often googling "coffee roasters placename" will also get you free wifi,
since the kind of coffeehouses that roast their own beans often provide free
wifi as well.  If you like good coffee while using the wifi, that's a good
way to find it.


Free wifi is pretty easy to find almost everyplace these days.  No need to
pay for it.
