People who have a love / hate relationship with golf don't understand sailing.

Sailing is the ultimate sport. I've spent all day trying to reach a buoy in the middle of lake Guntersville. This may be an easy task on the inter-coastal waterways where the wind is coming from one general direction but Lake Guntersville is surrounded by low hills that break, shadow and roll the wind.

Any discipline?

I have the good fortune of crewing once in a while (albeit in a somewhat ignorant way on my part) on my bud's Catalina 27. Even help him fix it up. Not so much over the last 1.5 years, but have had many great times going on day sails. Even some at night (near harbour). Quite something to see a moonlit night mit der stars and stuff. A couple times we motored/sailed out to see the annual fireworks here in Vancouver B.C.

It's pretty cool. Especially some of the winter sailing we did. Not totally rough seas, but some pretty good swells.

Neil.
