I had a good friend in San Francisco with a sailboat. His wife was
thrilled when he bought it, but the first day out on their first cruise,
the minute he hoisted the sails to get underway and the hull heeled
over, the lady turned white as the sail, grabbed that rail and hung on
for dear life, totally paralyzed with white knuckle fever. When they got
back to the doc, she never sailed with him again. Oh, she would go to
the docks, sun tan on the deck, sit and read, and enjoy the day - but
the very second he unmoored the boat, she was off that thing in a
heartbeat - waving at him as he set sail. He later sold it in favor of a
motorhome they could enjoy together.
