Nice to see your comments Don. re I've seen alloy lug bolts fail. They are prohibited on racetracks. I don't use them on any vehicle. A 'ham-fisted' mechanic with an air impact wrench can over-stress them with ease and you'd never know till they let go. You can even twist them right off 'by hand' (make the bolt shaft break using a normal lug wrench) and they sometimes seize onto a steel hub due to dissimilar metals reaction. Now, do you mean " *Alloy Wheel * wheel mounting bolts " or do you mean 'alloy wheel mounting bolts.' Stock Vanagon 14 inch alloy wheels are mounted with what appear to me to be normal steel wheel mounting bolts, with a shiny chrome cap on them. The torque spec on them is pretty high I think too. if there are actual 'alloy wheel mounting bolts' ....I've never heard of any. scott turbovans
