Ken,

Measuring the hot wire resistance isn't that big a deal. The trick will be to factor the incoming air temperature into the equation because this affects cooling. You will be driving an output resistance with the results of two curves, the hot wire resistance modified by the incoming air temperature.

Should be an interesting project.

I am working on one. I have gotten as far as finding a Nissan MAF that is an exact physical replacement for our AFM and is plentiful in salvage yards. It bolts up perfectly to the 2.1L air cleaner box and fits the large hose. I have done some preliminary electrical measurements and things look promising.
